The Bombay Management Association (BMA) has named Shri Subhash Chandra as the Entrepreneur of the Decade.
In a video message addressing the gathering at the 39th Bombay Management Association (BMA) Awards, Rajya Sabha MP Shri Subhash Chandra thanks the esteemed jury and urges the association to continue the good work.
Saying that he was initially resisting to accept such the award, he adds that, “The members convinced me that I have been instrumental in creating an industry in India that today gives jobs to over 5 million people.”
Recalling the journey of ZEE he says, “When we started in 1992, ZEE was the first private sector television channel. Today, we have 1.4 billion viewers across 173 countries. But more than that I would say that an industry got created and I happened to be the wrong person at the right time to have been instrumental in starting the industry.”
Giving credit to the viewers for making him and the company what it is today, he says, “I am happy to share with you that we are the world’s second most viewed network.” ZEE as a network is has its presence not only in eight Indian languages but ten foreign languages as well.
Sharing the first of his and ZEE’s 7 philosophies for business he reiterates that, “The customer is always first. It is because of them that we all exist. Deliver what you promise and always keep national importance as the supreme force.” He concludes by conveying his best wishes to the fellow awardees, wishing a bright future to the to-be entrepreneurs, and urging everyone to believe in themselves and their talent, be optimistic and be a winner.
Shri Punit Goenka, MD & CEO, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL) received the award on his behalf at the ceremony held in Mumbai on Wednesday.
