Subhash Chandra's address at the Essel At 90 celebrations

Essel Group celebrated its 90th anniversary with pomp and vigour on Sunday. Honourable President Shri Pranab Mukherjee and Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi were among the guests at the function held at the sprawling Indira Gandhi Stadium in Delhi.

After welcoming one and all, Dr. Subhash Chandra acknowledged the contribution of the 40,000 employees who have made Essel a successful organisation. He shared that the journey so far has been full of ups and downs. Subhashji said that it’s not enough to be profitable, what we do should also benefit society and the country.

Here are the main highlights of Dr Chandra’s speech:

1. We have pioneered many projects in Zee. We believe that we should not be afraid of problems and we must believe in ourselves. That’s why we got success in 6 out of 9 projects. Zee Media is one of them.
2. It is important that along with profit in business, the country should also benefit. We are providing 24 hour electric supply in city like Muzzafarpur. I hope that in the next year we will supply electricity to about 50 more cities.
3. Municipal Solid Waste is a serious concern. In MP’s Jabalpur, we have started waste to energy plant successfully.
4. We are also working on providing ASHA- Affordable Shelters and Houses to All.
5. Sarthi, a social initiative of Essel Group has expanded its reach and scope. Earlier it was working in the field of education and livelihood but now it has further expanded to health, women empowerment and social justice.
6. The Essel group pledged Rs 5000 crore to the DSC foundation.

14th May 2017 is a big day for the prestigious Essel Group. Today the prestigious group has completed 90 years of its existence. The Group has presence in 169 countries across the globe today and is a multi-billion dollar conglomerate.
