In this week’s episode of The Subhash Chandra Show, Shri Subhash Chandra interacts with more than 350 entrepreneurs from the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry about how to keep yourself motivated.
He asks the members of the audience what motivates them and where they draw that motivation. He says, “Do not make unrealistic plans at the first go. Be slow and focussed. You may not need external motivation then.” Subhash Ji explained to the audience that one should aim for goals which can be achieved easily and focus on one goal at a time.
The first guest on the show is changemaker Shri Uttam Kumar Bharadwaj from Jammu who an Artist. A birth condition rendered Kumar unable to use his arms, but that did not stop him from doing what he his heart wanted, he paints using his feet. Uttam ji became the first feet artist as a part of the host panel in International Day of Persons with Disabilities by HEART BEAT Foundation national exhibition event 2016.
Speaking about where he draws his motivation, he says, “When I went to school no one would speak to me or play with me. I liked to race with kids but they didn’t play with me so I wanted to be ahead of them. That was my motivation.” He narrates an incident about his school days and how his teacher gave him motivation to express himself using paintings.
Uttam Ji also presented Subhash Ji with a portrait made by him. Subhash Ji expresses his appreciation and thanks Uttam Ji, “This is priceless,” he says.
Talking more about what motivated him to begin his business he says, “When I left home with seventeen rupees in my pocket I had only one goal, to repay the 4-lakhs loan on my family. Then I set more goals and one by one worked towards them. Focus on one goal at a time.”
He adds, “There is value system of every person, family, society. When we do any work contrary to social rules or oppose the principles of ourselves, if you cross boundaries, then we ourselves understand that this path is wrong. And this thing makes you physically, mentally, and spiritually weak. Can a weak person work for one’s or other’s betterment?”
He says that when something goes right we get over-confident and when it goes wrong we say ‘why me?’ But when we accept the reality there won’t be these questions in your mind anymore.
Subhash Ji presents Uttam Ji with the ‘SaCh’ trophy and says, “Must not quit is your attitude and we bow down to your attitude.”
The second guest on the show is Dr. Kaushal Kant Mishra. Born in a remote village in the far interiors of UP, he went from being a mediocre student to a medicine topper and now a renowned orthopaedic surgeon. He narrates the story about how he got motivated to become a doctor. He also talks about how he began ‘Youth for Equality’ clinics in the tribal areas of Jharkhand. Through WhatsApp calls he gives medical consultations to the patients there. He says, “Narendra Modi Ji’s concept of ideal village is an inspiration and if there is one person today who motivates me it is Modi Ji.”
In conclusion he says, “there are two types of motivation: Promotional and Preventive. A promotional person will take the plunge saying ‘I can do this’ while Preventive people are those who are happy with their status quo. If we recognise this, which type of person you are, you will understand your boundaries and will be happy and content.”
