In this week’s episode, Shri Subhash Chandra continues from where he had left the last session on the subject- Classroom to Boardroom. Subhash Ji interacts with special guest on the show Shri Ajit Manocha, President- SEMI and talks about about transitioning from studying in a university to working in the corporate world, the challenges and opportunities that it offers and how to adapt oneself to become successful in this journey. Answering a question about choosing passion over a college degree Ajit Ji shares his life story and how he chose his passion and followed it through. He also talks about how his college degree helped him achieve what he is today.
Subhash Ji advised the students to be positive and learn to live in the present to overcome any fear or failure. “Solutions come from positivity, never from negativity. If you are positive nobody can stop you, if you are negative nobody can help you,” he adds. Subhash Ji along with Ajit Ji also speak about how one can change a gloomy situation into a positive one. Ajit Ji says, “It’s all up to you and your thinking.”
“College gives you some ability. You should have the willingness to learn. The ability to learn and willingness to learn gives you an understanding. Only positive people will have the willingness to learn. People with negative attitude will have the fear of failure, so you will never try that thing.”
He shares the 10 commandments of the corporate world that is based on the motto of succeed by making your customers even more successful. He also touches upon how in a corporate setting, expectations from people change and one plus one is no longer two, in the corporate world it is 1+>3 and in the boardroom is 1+1>11.
Subhash Ji speaks about his experience of facing negativity, even from industry contemporaries who believe that India cannot be a leader and has to follow the west in order to be in the market for electric vehicles. He says that this mentality has to change, he does not agree with it and thinking positively is the first step towards changing it. Subhash Ji also explains to the students why it is important to prioritize ones requirements.
Next, Subhash Ji invites guest speaker Shri Soumitra Mukherjee, Assistant Professor, Indian School of Business and Finance to explain the students the practical application of the education one receives in their academic institutes. Having served in the corporate sector for 15 years since 1992 and having been associated with reputed Indian organizations like Shaw Wallace Shipping, Tata Steel, ITC Financial Services, Soumitra Ji explains how an internship or industry project done during university education can add great value to a degree. Subhash Ji reiterates that attitude is greater than hard-work and hence having the right attitude is important.
Subhash Ji gives a mantra to the students to help them remove the confusion they might have in their minds that is holding them back from implementing their ideas. “Live in the present, don’t dwell in the past or worry about the future,” he says.
