The launching of Karnika, Bharat’s first state-of-the-art cruise ship by Jalesh Cruises, marks the evolution of the Bharat’s entertainment market, Shri Subhash Chandra has said. He also termed the launch of the cruise service a new chapter in the transportation and tourism sectors of Bharat.

Subhash ji took part in the launch and naming of the ship, which took place after a traditional pooja on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti. He reflected on the way the entertainment preferences of Indians has evolved over the decades.

He also recalled the early days after the founding of Zee TV, and how the channel became the first in an industry that now employs 5 million people. Subhash ji expressed hope that Zee’s venture into the cruise ship sector would have a similar effect.

Shreyasi Punit Goenka took on the position of the godmother of the ship and announced that the vessel had been named ‘Karnika’. A number of pathbreakers, who were the first to bring glory to Bharat for the first time in their respective fields were honoured at the event.

Subhash ji explained the reason for the choice of ‘Karnika’ for the cruise ship’s name in a tweet. He said the name was an acknowledgement of Varanasi’s famed Manikarnika Ghat, which is recognised as among the earliest ports in the world.
