In yet another first, this historic and phenomenal feat also saw a greater enrollment of girls than boys this year. He also shared that, the new schools have the maximum number of footprints in Jammu & Kashmir, Northeastern States, and West Bengal. This brings Ekal Abhiyan closer to its vision of starting 1,00,000 schools.
With 8.89 Lakhs, Girl child enrolment has first time ever crossed the Boys count of 8.86 Lakhs. The new schools have their maximum footprints in Jammu & Kashmir, North East and West Bengal. With this huge leap we are inching towards our target of 1,00,000 schools. @EkalBharat

Started in 1989, Ekal Abhiyan, the grass-root movement focusses on taking quality and inclusive education to in the remotest parts of the country. It takes off from the valuable words of Swami Vivekanda Ji – ‘If a poor child cannot come to school, the school must come him’.
Taking the concept overseas, Ekal has also spread its unique literacy program to ten other countries, becoming the largest grass-root NGO literacy movement in the world.
