Centuries after Feroz Shah Tughlaq took Samrat Ashoka's Chakra from Haryana, World’s biggest Dharma Chakra installed in Yamunanagar

Subhash Chandra inaugurates the World’s biggest Ashoka Chakra in Yamunagar’s Topra Kalan village in Haryana, says that Haryana should be included in the Buddhist Circuit.

The World’s largest Dharma Chakra or Ashoka Chakra was unveiled by Shri Subhash Chandra on Saturday, January 5, 2019 in Yamunanagar’s Topra Kalan village.

Subhash Ji spoke about the significance of the location of the iconic wheel which is Topra Kalan village in Haryana. Referencing historical facts he stated, “While the Ashoka pillar, today, stands in Kotla, New Delhi, Samrat Ashoka had erected the Ashoka pillar in this village but in the year 1356 Feroz Shah Tughlaq took that pillar to Delhi from its original position.”

Adding to village’s importance in history, he said that Lord Buddha had come to this village too. He added, “It is here that Lord Buddha gave the discourse of Satipatthana Sutta which shows how one can obtain nirvana, how one can free himself of sorrows and be happy.”

Having said that he also hailed the team for taking the initiative and assured support from his side as a Member of Parliament to include Haryana in the Buddhist Circuit as it would not only valorize the cultural importance of the place but also attract people from all over the world to visit in turn helping the village prosper.
