A moment of immense pride that our daughter Vinesh Phogat has brought golden glory

Wrestler Vinesh Phogat made history on Monday by winning India its first gold in woman’s wrestling at the Asian Games since the sport was introduced in 2002.

As the nation cheered the remarkable performance of the twenty-three year-old Haryana wrestler, Shri Subhash Chandra joined in and congratulated the gold medallist with a heartfelt message.
He said, “A moment of immense pride that our daughter has brought golden glory.” Recognising her splendid feat he added that with this win she has entered in Bharat’s sporting history.

He further added that she will not just be a role model for Haryana but also for the entire country. He congratulated her and said that it is a matter of great joy that she has brought home the gold medal for the nation.

Subhash Ji also congratulated wrestler Bajrang Punia who bagged the first gold for India in the Asian Games 2018.  Subhash Ji hailed the wrestler who dedicated the award to Former PM Late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He said, “Atal Ji had told the Indian team that, ‘Don’t just win in the games, also win hearts.’ Your sentiment has won the hearts of the 1.25 crore Indians.”

Congratulating 16 year-old Shooter Saurabh Chaudhary on clinching the gold medal and Shooter Abhishek Verma on securing the bronze in the men’s 10mm Air Pistol finals, he said, “At the age of 16, when most people cannot decide what to do in the future, what career to choose, at the same age, Saurabh Choudhary wins the gold medal for the country. Hearty congratulations to Abhishek Verma as well for winning the bronze. The whole country is proud of their achievements today.”

Subhash Ji lauded Shri Neeraj Chopra’s feat and congratulated the javelin thrower hailing from Haryana for winning the gold. He said, “Amazing! It is a matter of utmost pride, not only for the people of Haryana but all Indians, that Neeraj has brought home the gold. Wish you hearty congratulations. May you keep winning and bringing glory to Bharat.”
